The Westport Woman’s Club has announced that proposals are now being accepted for grants. Non-profit organizations are invited to submit their grant requests for projects that will make a continuing difference in our community. Grants may be in the form of funds or use of the Westport Woman’s Club House for events (the club house on Imperial Avenue is owned by the WWC – there are only two Woman’s clubs in CT that own their own houses) or partnerships. Grants are given each year to deserving organizations in education endeavors, health and safety-related programs and in the arts. The Westport Woman’s Club, organized in 1907, is a non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to volunteerism and the raising of funds in support of the educational, charitable, cultural and public health services in Westport and surrounding towns. The members of the WWC grant funds to non-profit organizations in lower Fairfield County and college scholarships, in addition to managing the food closet for the town of Westport, sending grocery gift cards to those in need during the holiday season, delivering holiday meals to the homebound, organizing holiday toy drives, preparing a luncheon for low income residents of Westport and dedicating many hours of volunteerism.
